Tomorrow, Sunday the 5th of September 2021, Mr Mitchell Aspland of Swansea, South Wales, will start to climb Ben Nevis at 0500 hours local. On his return to flat earth he will jump on his bicycle and pedal furiously southwards, come hell or high water. He will cycle 581 miles and climb 16, 971 feet in just 5 days.
His ambitious and punishing itinerary is:
Sunday 5th: . . . . . . . . . . .Ben Nevis + 106mile cycle
Monday 6th: . . . . . . . . . .144 mile cycle
Tuesday 7th: . . . . . . . . . Scafell Pike + 126mile cycle
Wednesday 8th: . . . . . 60mile cycle + Snowdon + 47mile cycle
Thursday 9th: . . . . . . . . Cadair Idris, 98mile cycle + finally Pen-Y-Fan
He is doing this to raise money for two charities that he believes in: ourselves, and Hope for Hasti. The proceeds are being split 50/50, so if you donate you will not only be helping veterans suffering from PTSD but also Chris Branningan's cause which is to support research into Cornelia de Lange Syndrome.
Mitch is an engaging Welshman with a passion for helping others. He has had some local support, but basically this is all been done at this own expense. His training has had to fit in around his full-time job as a builder. His support team consists of two friends in a van.
This is a gutsy attempt at a World First, which deserves full support. If you would like to boost Mitch's morale please go to:
